BERLIN (Reuters Life!) - Just as Knut-mania begins to fade, the birth of a female polar bear in a zoo in southern Germany has sparked a new media frenzy.

Newspapers have hailed the tiny cub as a future mate for Berlin's shaggy celebrity, whose love prospects are already on the minds of his keepers and now fodder for the tabloids.

"Will she become Mrs. Knut one day?" top-selling daily Bild splashed across its front page on Thursday.

A full-page spread in the paper showed pictures of Knut and one-month old "Knutschi" inside a big red heart. An astrologer described the pair, both Sagittarians, as a "Dream Team" with high erotic potential and perfectly aligned love planets.

Like her human-reared counterpart in the German capital, who now weighs in at a hefty 100 kg (220 pounds), the new baby bear was separated from her mother after officials at the Nuremberg zoo became concerned she might harm the cub.

Now four keepers at the zoo are taking care of the 2 kg fur ball, who needs milk every three hours.

Nuremberg city officials have said they will stage an official naming competition for the new cub soon, but one keeper told German television station N24 that he had already decided what to call her.

"To me she is now Snowflake," said Horst Mausner. "I held her in my hand. She is as white as snow."
