I am selling Handmade weaved Karen shoulder / satchel bags on behalf of the Karen Women’s Organisation on the Thai/Burma Border. They have asked me to do this so that we can raise much needed funds to meet the basic needs of the refugees flying the brutal military in Burma. Each days hundreds of people try yo escape and end up in refugee camps along the border with Thailand. Many of the people have had their families killed or are themselves injured and traumatised. The Thai government lets them stay but there is practically no money for basic necessities and so they relay on the UN and the western communities generosity. I have 15 bags that have been handmade by the women in the camps in the traditional Karen weaving style. The women’s organisation encourages the women to keep up traditional practices like this so that the women stay positive about their situation. Each bag is beautifully made. The colours available are: red, blue, green and brown. Each bag is 35cm x 38cm and stretches out about 12cm. the strap is 120cm long so that its sits at the hip. The strap is 16cm wide and can be worn full or folded over. The hand weaved design has beautiful features with very thin lines and tiny crosses all weaved into the bag. It also has tassels hanging from the bottom and the sides. You will love this bag! Just send me your email address in a message and I can send you a paypal invoice and post it off to you (please include your postal address in the message) also let me know what colour you would like... They are $35AU each plus $5AU postage ($10AU for international). That’s about $38 (including postage) for the US MySpace URL: Burma Border Refugees Burma Children All the proceeds will be sent back to the Karen’s women organization to purchase educational supplies for the kids in the camps.
