Gossip
Whispers lingering in the air growing in volume travelling where, Cloying seething doubt does cling killing joy and pain does bring, With each distorted mocking aim every word turns trust to shame, Gathering momentum and listeners ears, more to pass on and add to fears, Crush the person wear them down, give them hell and hope they drown, Suffocate them under pressure malicious, turn the screw the poison's pernicious, Tempted the crowd to join the throng to sing the destructive evil song, Sniggering laughter no respite, follows the person day and night, No concern that the truth be known too late now the burdens grown, Bearing down on the chosen one no recompense the damage done, Sudden their suicide, shocking news too late now to change their views, When murderous tongues have their day, Gossips will still continue their way, for sticks and stones the bones will break, But words alone no life will take any excuse their conscience to ease though at the point of their demise In mirrored reflection they will finally see the need to live and love in harmony, That we are really all the same, giving one is to give all a destructive name, So who will be first to cast the stone, or in loving forgiveness repent and atone.
