It never serves us to remember
Past bitterness or pain,
When another day is dawning
And all is new again,
A canvas fresh on which to paint
More memories of delights,
Throw off the past, hurtful words,
Scenes or harmful fights,
Remember only the joyful, pure
Memories that cling,
Those that make life worthwhile
And your heart to sing,
For as each season passes and time
Is etched upon your face,
Memories become more precious
And are a treasured place,
If a silent thief does rob you
Cruelly taking them away,
I will be by your side and always
With you stay,
If perchance like echoes fading
Your memories disappear,
In the dark I will remember for you,
In my embrace you will not fear.
