MY FIRE WALKING EXPERIENCE
I don't know when it was that I first decided I wanted to do a fire walk, and no,! I wasn't crazy at the time thinking I would have to walk bare foot over a red hot bed of fire burning at 1,236 degrees farenheit certainly hot enough to melt alluminium. My thoughts were there must be a scientific reason why this can be done, I was also curious to know what affect it would have on me personaly if I completed it successfully without injury or burns, I also felt if I did it at all it must be for a good reason, not just out of curiosity. I believe whatever it is we want to do or achieve strongly enough the opportunity will eventualy arise, it was a strong but passing thought and I could see no way of traveling to where any fire walk was taking place, it was quite some time later when I had almost forgotten about it that by coincidence I heard a fire walk was actualy taking place in my own area where I live and that I could do this for charity, as my definition of coincidence is that they are all opportunities or messages that happen at the right time when they are supposed to, I decided to go ahead for Marie Curie and myself. There were thirty of us taking part and after signing a form taking my own responsibility we were all led to a room where we had about a half hour or so training session in readiness for our walk, though brief the the session was relaxed, even humorous at times with a few jokes, soon we were all in a positive awareness state and belief in ourselves ready to take the important steps. However on looking out of the window and seeing the flames rising high from the bed of fire there was a distinct feeling of fear, as the flames subsided and we all went to take our walk, the bed was glowing red hot, and I knew on reaching my turn how incredable it is to truly have faith to conquer my fear, as I walked I felt nothing, and when completed all I felt was a slight tingle in my feet for a second, and no injury or burns. I felt euphoric, an amazing feeling of empowerment, and spiritual gratitude, and understanding. Fear is natural and important we only have to look at the animals in the wild to know fear warns them, as it warns us to respect the elements of nature, or whatever occurs in our lives in order to be cautious. The point is to be able to act in certain circumstances in spite of fear, many people do this whether they take a fire walk or not. Personally for me it was an unforgetable and empowering experience, and I still feel it should be done for a GOOD reason. After the walk was over we all congregated to enjoy the rest of the time together with good conversation, music and entertainment, great fun. It is very important that the fire bed is layed expertly with the right materiels and no nails or substances that could cause injury, it is possible to be kissed by the fire, but if blisters or burns occur it is generaly because this is not adhered to or instructions followed correctly, and this is rare. Myself if I am meant to I am looking forward to doing a glass walk. It was not until after I did the fire walk that I found out more about it. Fire walking has been practiced for thousands of years in many parts of the world, and is mentioned in many religious books, and has been important in Shamanic traditions. The scientific explanations are the Leidenfort effect which says that the feet are protected by a layer of moisture. There is also the conductive theory which explains that the coals do not conduct heat deeply ar quickly enough to burn, an example being if you put your hand inside an oven you don't burn because the air has poor conductivity as opposed to if you touch the metal, whatever the e xplanations are fire walking was an incredable empowering experience which also enriched me spiritualy, everyone has their own account of how a fire walk affects them, for me I am just pleased the opportunity presented itself but must add DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. If you are considering taking a fire walk there are many links to tell you more, and where they are taking place, do make sure that you choose the very best, safest and most reputable one. Pamela V.
