This is one young gorilla who clearly has dreams of being just like her dad - all 28 stone of him.

Baby Alice was caught on camera beating her chest at Miami Zoo, as her proud mother and father looked on.

But disappointingly for her, the effect was merely adorable - rather than the more intimidating result when her silverback father J.J does the same.

The moment - which will be recognised by people with children the world over - was caught on camera by Ron Magill at Zoo Miami. Naturalist and photographer Mr Magill, 51, said Alice was always trying to copy her much bigger dad. He said: 'Alice really does have it easy, she's the only youngster in the group and daughter to J.J. and her mum Fredrika.

'She really is a daddy's girl and despite being so small she is allowed to get away with anything, J.J. even lets her take his food. 'I think this picture is about her showing her dad she can be just like him, she's copying what she has seen him doing. 'Gorilla youngsters learn in a very similar way to human children by repeating behaviour they see the older individuals doing.

Mr Magill, who has filmed animals all over the world, said capturing the gorillas on camera presented it's own unique challenges. He said: 'Photographing a moment like this is difficult because of the colouring of the gorillas, you have to get just the right light otherwise they just like a ball of dark fur. 'Alice is a little older now but she is still the king of the jungle as far as she is concerned, she's a real character.'
